Allied Waste
Allied Waste is a waste service company that services communities all over the United States. They provide solid waste collection, disposal services, and recycling for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Allied Waste of Atwater has been a tenant at Castle Commerce Center for the last eight years and currently has seven full-time employees. They have been providing the disposal service for the city of Atwater for the past 31 years.
AT&T Wireless
AT&T Wireless, the largest wireless company in the United States with more than 67 million subscribers, opened a state-of-the-art call center in Castle Commerce Center located in the Central Valley region of California.
To serve the eighth largest economy in the world, as well as, other West Coast customer service areas,
AT&T Wireless occupies 140,000 sf of office, parking and storage space at the Center. AT&T Wireless has expanded its workforce from 250 to 1,100 employees in the course of its tenancy at Castle Commerce Center.
Big Creek Lumber
Big Creek Lumber Company has been in business since 1946 and remains one of the few family-owned lumber companies in the area. The McCrary family has lived and worked on the Central Coast for six generations.
We currently operate a sawmill and wholesale sales department, five Pro Dealer lumber yards, an engineered products division, a forestry department, and a logging operation. Big Creek has a long history of practicing superior forest stewardship - growing, selectively harvesting and milling California redwood and Douglas fir.
Castle Air Museum Foundation, Inc.
Subsequent to the closure of Castle Air Force Base in 1994, a group of enthusiasts formed a non-profit organization, Castle Air Museum Foundation, Inc in an effort to assume custody of the aircraft collection.The objective of the mission was to exhibit an array of restored historic aircraft for public enjoyment and, more importantly, to preserve the history of Castle.
Museum visitors now have the opportunity to experience, up close and personal, the rich history. Standing under the wing of a Convair RB-36H Peacemaker or a Boeing B-52, visitors can see first-hand these magnificent planes of the past. Other aircraft such as the B-25 Mitchell and B-29 are displayed in the Museum as well as a B-4 Stratojet, the British Avro Vulcan B.2, and the CF-100 Canuck MK V.
The Castle Challenger Learning Center Foundation
Challenger Learning Center’s main mission is to “to extend the boundaries of human knowledge, to teach, and to inspire.” The Castle Challenger learning Center Foundation supports the San Joaquin Valley's only Challenger Learning Center as well as the Castle Science and Technology Center. They are located near the entrance to the former Castle Air Force Base.
Castle Lanes
Castle Lanes has been open to the community over a decade—providing a fun-filled environment to family, friends, and league competitors. The hours of operations are from 6 to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday (closed on Tuesdays). On Fridays and Saturdays, the bowling center is open from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Merced Union High School District
Merced Union High School District (MUHSD) serves the high school students of three communities. Merced is the home of two high schools, Merced High and Golden Valley High. Atwater’s high school students are educated at Atwater High and Buhach Colony High school. Livingston’s students are served at Livingston High School. A sixth comprehensive high school is currently in the planning stage and will be located in Merced.
MUHSD serves a diverse and dynamic student population of 10,673 students that includes
52 percent Hispanic, 26 percent Caucasian, 5 percent African-American, 16 percent Asian and one percent other students. The students are served by 583 certificated and 437 classified employees.
Moore's Martial Arts Academy
Moore’s Martial Arts Academy coaches students on various levels of the Chinese martial art known as Shou Shu. Shou Shu, is said to be the ultimate “art of unarmed combat as well as being a superb system to achieve physical fitness and confidence in oneself.” Additionally, Shou Shu trains students to increase their level of fitness and strength, and helps improve balance, coordination and flexibility, as well as enhance power the concentration, self-discipline and self-control.
The academy is open Monday through Friday and hours of operation are from noon to 10 p.m. Classes are offered for children and adults. Children’s classes run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and adult classes run from 7 to 8 p.m.

Providing contract-training services for more than 50 airlines and major aviation organizations, Sierra has helped students qualify for more than 50,000 FAA certifications and ratings. Sierra has three training campuses in Stockton, Livermore, and Merced, California.
The training facility at Castle International Airport now serves Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines pilots who are earning Federal Aviation Administration Certification in preparation for the increased air traffic demand anticipated for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics.

University of California Merced
The University of California, Merced (UC Merced), located in the San Joaquin Valley of Merced, California, is the tenth University of California campus. UC Merced is the first American research university built in the 21st century, with the first day of classes held on September 6, 2005. Located in the Central Valley, UC Merced is associated with regional agricultural industries and emphasizes cutting-edge interdisciplinary research grounded in natural science, math, and engineering. The campus leverages its surrounding environment by investigating issues relating to environmental systems of the Central Valley and the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range area. It has a world-class solar research department as well as programs in genetic research conducted in state-of-the-art research labs.
UC Merced occupies 103,126 gsf at Castle Commerce Center, for administrative space and graduate research laboratories. In addition to its role as property manager, FEDERAL is working to create a joint solar energy research facility with UC Merced and SolarTech; a consortium of Silicon Valley based alternative energy companies.
Western Farm Services
Western Farm Service (WFS) offers growers innovative advances in agricultural products and services. There are approximately 100 staffed WFS facilities and 12 agronomists service growers in California, Arizona, Washington, Oregon and Idaho. WFS is an operating segment of Agrium, a global producer and distributor of nitrogen, phosphate, potash and sulfate. WFS has a sister company in the Midwest, Crop Production Services (CPS), which services the Corn Belt to the east coast.
Enzo's
Enzo’s, an eclectic, upbeat, restaurant opened its doors for business on the Castle grounds in December. The restaurant’s colorful décor, awesome XM radio music, and buoyant staff, certainly sets a fun-filled, friendly environment. Enzo’s, known for their delicious Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, offers a mix of hamburgers, salads, and Mexican food. Tasty breakfast burritos, pancakes, and other breakfast choices can be ordered all day long, and its friendly staff is ready to serve all your needs.
Castle ROP Automotive Training Center
The Castle ROP Automotive Training Center first opened its doors in August of 2006, and operates as a state-of-the-art career technical program for high school students and adults under the direction of the Merced County Office of Education. The facility operates eight hours per day and teaches an adult class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. This automotive program has a fully functioning NAPA Auto Parts store with tools and equipment, including: electronic Mitchell On Demand, the automotive industry’s first computerized automotive repair information system, and TRACKS, a paperless shop management system. The Castle Automotive Training Center currently provides automotive training for students from 13 high schools within five school districts as well as adults.
West Med College
In early 2007 the WestMed College‘s two campuses in San Jose and Atwater/ Merced were added to the already existing five educational institutions of the La Jolla based National University Systems.
WestMed College at Castle has an average of 60 students annually and provides quality career training for licensed vocational nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, nursing assistants, and early childhood educators.
Starting in 2002 and for three consecutive years, WestMed has been recognized by the Consumer Business Review as the Vocational Education Professionals of the Year and as the Medical Education Professionals of the Year for 2005. |
